After gaining print permission from the gracious Amminopurr, my new wallpaper The Moment is now available as a print.
You can purchase a print one of two ways, through my DeviantART Print Shop or through my Print Shop on RedBubble. I'm looking forward to making more designs like this in the future as I'm really happy with the way this one turned out. I'll keep you posted on upcoming and new art as always, so stay tuned and spread the word.

New Wallpaper - The Moment
I've been really, really busy lately working on a slew of great new projects but I thought I'd take the time to put together a new wallpaper for you to enjoy over Memorial Day Weekend.
This new wallpaper is called The Moment, and it centers around the idea of letting yourself go in the moment wherever you are in life. Too often it's easy to get caught up in the dramas of work and every day life (as I know all too well), and this visual representation is my way of smoothing out the ruffles to get ready to let go of everything and relax over this nice upcoming holiday weekend.
I used some stock imagery for this wallpaper, so I want to give credit to Amminopurr for this great shot of the girl with the headphones. The rest came out of my fingertips.
You can download the full wallpaper package here. If you need help getting your wallpaper set up on your desktop, follow the instructions below.

Updated Layout and New Features
After some serious thought, I've updated the layout of this blog a little and added in some new features as well. Since I joined the art community over at RedBubble about a month ago, I've really grown to love the layout and community of the site. I've made some friends and gotten some great reviews on my work, and that's good because positive feedback and expression really does help an artist maintain and continue to work on new things. Without that positive feedback, it's hard to find motivation sometimes and really work to get new art out there. That said, thanks a ton to RedBubble for your great community site.
With the addition of RedBubble in my life, I've found a great tool to display my art and allow people to easily purchase works so I added that to the sidebar of this blog. Not too sure how that will affect traffic, but hopefully people will see my work and enjoy it.
You'll also notice affiliate links for sites such as FlashDen, StickerJunkie, and to the book How to be a Rockstar Freelancer. These are sites and products that have influenced my work and they really are great tools for anyone working in the design industry. There will be more to come as I'm finding that I enjoy promoting these tools that help me, hopefully I can pass on this information I've found and eventually help other designers out.
I've been working on a bunch of new projects recently that have kept me very, very busy. A few websites will be launching soon, so I'm excited about that. I also have a few personal projects that I need to keep secretive at this point but will hopefully become fruitful upon their exposure to the outside world. Keep checking back, I'll be posting more and more in the months to come.

New Art - Breath in Flame

This started out as a fun piece for me, and then I went crazy and it turned out really cool. Want a print? Check out the Print Shop to purchase something with this on it, or just to see it up close.
Want to see the image that started it all? This is a photo of me goofing off last summer.. funny how much things can change with a few layers.

New Art - Family Portrait

I drew this years ago, but never had a good idea on how to color it until now. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, hope you like it.

Survival of the Fittest

This is my newest illustration, Survival of the Fittest. I really dig this, originally I wasn't sure what the background would be but I decided a fiery, end-of-the-world type landscape would suit the idea behind the piece. Enjoy!
Prints Available in the Print Shop.

Well, technically these are older pieces that I've done, but I never submitted them for some reason so now I have. Prints available in the Print Shop, or just check them out in my DeviantART Gallery.

DeviantART has New Puzzles

DeviantART just launched a new format for the Puzzles in their online stores! I'm really excited because the new format includes a black box with the puzzle pieces broken apart inside. Apparently the old way they did puzzles was to send them flat without a box or anything, so this is a huge step up.
There are numerous puzzles available in my Print Shop, so get your puzzle on!

Not every piece is available in every form, but there are many different things to choose from besides just prints. The Destruction of Colony 030783

This is the newest illustration I've done, and I'm quite proud of it. Done in Illustrator, here's a little description:
"And there upon the horizon lurked a shadow that could conquer mountains. As it approached, the people fled as darkness reigned over the Colony of 030783."
Click here to check it out on DeviantART, you can view it much larger.
Visit my shop if you'd like to purchase a print:

What's New at DeviantART

I wasn't expecting an email from DeviantART anytime soon, but I was definitely glad to recieve it. Sounds like they've launched a new clothing line, and it's really cool. Not sure yet if they hired guest artists to design the clothing or not, but there are some really cool designs.
I was also pleased to learn about the "Top Selling Prints" list in the DeviantART store, a very cool selection of the top art on the site.
Perhaps in time I'll make it on that list, but until then you can check out my work here.

The Mad Hatter: 10/6 Update

Since I painted my version of the Mad Hatter I've been asked by many people about the card in his hat that reads "10/6". Well, to be perfectly honest I never knew before the meaning behind this numerical set so I went on a little Google joyride. My findings were pretty exciting...
Apparently 10/6 (or October 6th) is Mad Hatter Day, a day reserved for silliness among the sane. It's a wonder that we never celebrate such a day, which also happens to be almost exactly a half of a year from April Fool's Day. To learn more, check out this site.

Smashing Pumpkins Zeitgeist - Has their Clock struck Doomsday?

I've gotta hand it to Billy Corgan for reviving a legendary cult rock band all by himself... literally. One can't help but notice the inside cover of the new album claiming "Jimmy Chamberlain: Drums / Billy Corgan: All the Rest". But then again, what else is new?
Upon first listen (I hadn't previously heard any new material) I am enthusiastic to find that Billy Corgan has FINALLY decided to trash the God forsaken drum loops that caused not only "Adore" but every album after that to crash and burn. There should be a parade in honor of this epiphany that Corgan has somehow come to realize. However, as soon as Corgan's trademark voice begins to resonate across my speakers I am suddenly worried that the album may not come to grips with the hopes I had for it.
The first track on the album, "Doomsday Clock" must have been mastered in Apple's GuitarBand because nothing can stop me from noticing every little layer of sound. I've listened to it three times now and I am certain it was not an initial reaction, but a fatal flaw. Apprehension grips me, yet I press on.
The second track sounds less like the first (in a positive way), and then I get to track 3, "Bleeding the Orchid" and eventually track 5, "Tarantula" to find that this album is definitely going in the direction I had hoped it would. The thick, grungy guitars are back, along with overly-distorted high pitch solos with plenty of string scraping (another helping, please?). This is where I realize I can probably give the first track another try, yet I still find myself in the same frame of mind. Perhaps I can come to like it eventually.
Overall, the new Pumpkins album is above and beyond what I had hoped for. No crappy drum loops, plenty of tearing guitars and drumwork (thanks Jimmy) and more emotion than a sixteen year old girl on her 2 week anniversary. Props to Corgan and Co. (Jimmy), I'll be in line for my ticket when you come through Minneapolis.

Seventhfury Studios - Version 7.7.07
After much turmoil and many, many designs Seventhfury Studios is proud to present Version 7.7.07. No coincidence that the new site was launched on a day completely represented by the number 7... Or is there?
The new site is fully driven by XML technology, making it much easier to update for this one-man army. Now that the site is up I'm going to put more time into prints and shirt designs, so be prepared for more and more upcoming work in the next few weeks.

Double O Crow
Another painting I just finished, this one is smaller than The Mad Hatter but I find it to be more favorable. I very much like the color scheme I'm working with on these two, I made very similar backgrounds for both and used a similar color scheme over all. You can view this piece in more detail on my DeviantART page for this piece.

The Mad Hatter
Painted this the other day, I think I'm going to submit it to the MN State Fair. I've been painting a lot lately in preparation for a few art shows I may do this summer, and to keep my skillz up to date. I'm going to post this to my DeviantART account soon too, but not sure when I'll have time for it.
