Just finished coloring my latest piece (although I actually sketched this about 5 years ago on a city bus on the way home from art school), and it's looking pretty good.
My original thought on this as I drew it was that this guy needed a big frickin' gun. No, wait.. a HUGE frickin' gun! The kind that would, in no way, be able to be supported by his weight alone. In fact, the gun-to-guy weight ratio balance would be off so badly that he would be lying on his back in about a second. But, this isn't real life, and nothing even says this is an illustration of anything from our universe so maybe he's on another planet or something. Yeah, that's it..
Overall, I'm happy with the way this turned out. I originally didn't plan on adding in the smoke or spark effects, but I thought it needed something more so I started playing around with smoke and that eventually led to a much larger idea: the character seems to be literally ripping apart or on the verge of exploding. Very cool.
I'm working on improving my coloring speed and overall composition, so hopefully you'll enjoy this latest addition to my illustration/print portfolio.
You can view the work in detail and purchase prints either at my DeviantART Print Shop, or my RedBubble Store. Enjoy!

New Art - Breath in Flame

This started out as a fun piece for me, and then I went crazy and it turned out really cool. Want a print? Check out the Print Shop to purchase something with this on it, or just to see it up close.
Want to see the image that started it all? This is a photo of me goofing off last summer.. funny how much things can change with a few layers.

So Pasted - V6

Alrighty! I worked out a new font that I think incorporates the styles of both of the previous fonts, so hopefully everyone likes it. Also, I added in a tiled bathroom and a splattery sort of counter top that's crusted over with toothpaste (I tried it smoothed out and.. just didn't look pasted enough!).
So, definitely looking forward to some critiques on this. Thanks in advance!

Survival of the Fittest

This is my newest illustration, Survival of the Fittest. I really dig this, originally I wasn't sure what the background would be but I decided a fiery, end-of-the-world type landscape would suit the idea behind the piece. Enjoy!

The Destruction of Colony 030783

This is the newest illustration I've done, and I'm quite proud of it. Done in Illustrator, here's a little description:
"And there upon the horizon lurked a shadow that could conquer mountains. As it approached, the people fled as darkness reigned over the Colony of 030783."
Click here to check it out on DeviantART, you can view it much larger.

Seventhfury on Threadless

It's official, I've moved into the Threadless Community. So far, I've submitted my illustration of the Moonster as a possible T-Shirt design. I'm mostly curious, I'd like to see if I have what it takes to make it in the world of Threadless.
So, if you'd like to help out, you can visit my submission and critique my piece. This will help me decide whether or not to take the next step in the community.
Thanks in advance, I'll keep posting updates about this on this blog.

Vector Illustrators - Dos and Don'ts

iStockphoto recently published an online article describing the many Dos and Don'ts of Vector Illustration in the modern world. Now, while this mostly pertains to people trying to submit to iStockphoto, I find value in the words as an illustrator. I think that a lot of the things they touch on in the article are things that are true of a lot of artists today, mostly those who are looking to make a quick buck versus publishing some quality work. Quality, not quantity, isn't it?
You can read the article here.

Seventhfury Studios - Version 7.7.07
After much turmoil and many, many designs Seventhfury Studios is proud to present Version 7.7.07. No coincidence that the new site was launched on a day completely represented by the number 7... Or is there?
The new site is fully driven by XML technology, making it much easier to update for this one-man army. Now that the site is up I'm going to put more time into prints and shirt designs, so be prepared for more and more upcoming work in the next few weeks.

Video Games
Video Games have plagued (plagued, or enlightened?) my life for much of the last 18+ years. Ever since my brothers and I received our first Nintendo Home Entertainment System on Christmas Day way back in the stone age, we have been immersed in a world of gaming. Granted, there are limits. None of us are extremists when it comes to game playing, but we do play frequently.
Having such a thorough background was very inspiring when I came up with this latest piece, aptly entitled "Video Games". Created entirely in vector, this is one of my favorite pieces in the last year. I think I'm going to keep this style going in my next few pieces to see if it fits other concepts I might try. Enjoy!
View the piece on DeviantART, you can even purchase it in the DeviantART store.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Movie
Wow. I have to post this because it's of immense importance to the future of the world. The official movie poster for the upcoming Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie has been released and it is FANTASTIC. This thing melds together little bits of history from some great movie posters in an all-encompassing masterpiece. Visually glorious. I can point out parts that were inspired by Star Wars, Army of Darkness, Conan the Barbarian and Red Sonja, amongst others, I'm sure.
You can view the post I found it on here.
Simply awesome.

Mammal Swap
I decided to try something new this time.. an all-vector piece that I actually enjoy quite a bit. I call it "Mammal Swap" as you can see from the freaky looking critter in the foreground.
The inspiration for this piece came from the Eastern Hog-Nosed Snake that has a hog-tipped snout. I thought it would be funny to take this animal one step further and make it a cross between a pig and a snake, thus the final outcome. I threw it on a background straight out of Super Mario Bros. and Viola! A masterpiece.. maybe.
Needless to say I don't think there is a need for such a creature in this world but, if due to some strange twist in evolution, these animals suddenly become mainstream you can bet I'll be enjoying snake bacon on Saturday mornings.
